I sometimes come across fallen trees when I travel or just take a walk. The sight of a large tree lying on its side gives me a sense of sadness and at the same time a peaceful death. For me, there is something about the sight of a tree lying quietly, despite having been felled by a tremendous force, that makes it something I would like to use as a theme for my paintings.

旅先やちょっとした散歩で倒木を見かけることがあります。大きな木が横たわる姿はもの悲しさと同時に安らかな死を感じさせます。壮絶なエネルギーによってなぎ倒されたにも関わらず、静かに横たわる木の姿は私にとって絵のテーマにしたい何かがあるように思います。
